Hoong Tho, Ipoh Old Town.
Making a detour in Ipoh enroute to Penang has always been a must with us. But being quite unfamiliar with the roads, somehow I always end up in Old Town (must be subconscious craving white coffee, lol) and the locals should know that dinner places in Old Town is quite scarce as night falls. So [...]

Fall squash soup followed by Monterey sand dabs, anyone? Maybe some apple upside-down bread pudding to finish? These are options at Los Angeles restaurant Grace, and, if you act soon, you won’t need to break the budget to sample them or offerings at other select eateries. Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, is the last day [...]

It’s a traditional Flemish red ale with an almost impossible name to pronounce: vich-ten-AAR? VICH-ten aar? vich-TEN-aar? (From a brewery with a more impossible name to pronounce- Brouwerij Verhaeghe). Chilled, this refreshing sipper smacks you in the face with notes of sour fruit, vanilla, and port. No artificial flavors added (this ain’t DeKuyper’s sour apple puckers [...]

We took a drive down to Melaka again, but this time, we stayed a night there and had more time to go muzeums visiting, and also to sample the various food there!! Thankfully this time, my camera worked perfectly well, so the next few posts will be all about our mini holiday!!! Sorry can’t blog about the holidays all at once .. no time!!
Spent our Friday evening in MidValley Megamall. Had our dinner at Madam Kwan’s and watch Quantum of Solace. Show wasn’t too bad, but dinner was definately better!!!
Madam Kwan’s cafe is more of a modern kopitiam setting, selling famous local and western cuisine. They have branches at MidValley, KLCC and Bangsar.
Perhaps this resembles their famous chef, Madam Kwan?!
We’ve decided to try their Western Cuisine. I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, which is actually not bad but I prefer minced chicken rather than minced beef but unfortunately, they do not have minced chicken.
Hubby ordered lamb shanks. Very nice and I loved the steamed veggies!!!
Parmesan cheese for the spaghetti and mint sauce for the lamb.
For dessert, cendol. The gula melaka is given separately … but since I like it sweet, I poured everything!!!
And this is how it looks like after emptying all the gula melaka!!
Duckie’s Review :
Food : Nice. I have not tried others but at least the ones we had were good.
Price : The meal costs about RM50+. Rather pricey but worth it.

After posting Ho Yee Kee’s prawn mee, I have received numerous recommendations about O & S Restaurant’s Penang Prawn Mee in Petaling Jaya. Coincidentally, while chatting with my buddies (also from Penang) not too long ago they mentioned about a very good prawn mee in PJ area too. According to them it was so good [...]
